Robert D. Sweigert, 73, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home. He was the husband of Sundra F. Schafebook Sweigert. On January 25th, they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
Born in Lebanon on September 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Harvey and Helen Sanders Sweigert. He retired from Verizon after over 40 years of service. He also retired from the PA National Guard. While serving in the National Guard he was activated with the 121st Transportation Company during Desert Storm. He also served in the in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Bob was a member of the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown, a life member of the Lebanon VFW Post 23. He enjoyed working with electronics and was a licensed Ham Radio Operator.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Gary R., husband of Vicki and Scott R. Sweigert both of Jonestown; brother, David of Fawn Grove; sisters, Phyllis Rittle of Lebanon and Dolly Heist of Annville; granddaughter, Jamie; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Travis and three step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at 12 noon at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown.
