Kenneth Friedlander Obituary

Kenneth Mark
Friedlander
September 1, 1946-
June 27, 2015
Columbus, GA- Kenneth Mark Friedlander, 68, of Columbus, GA died peacefully Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Columbus Hospice House with his children, Leah and Paul, his sister Cindy, and the mother of his children, Shelly, at his side.
There will be a service at 2:00 PM Friday, July 3, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Ken was born September 1, 1946 in Moultrie, GA, a place that was forever very dear to his heart. He is the son of the late Irwin "Freidy" and Peggy.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Judy and Jill.
He is survived by his sister, Cindy, his daughter, Leah and son, Paul. He had three beautiful grandchildren, Olivia, Abby, and Reese. He also was an uncle to Kerri, Zack, and Casey, who all adored him.
Ken came to Columbus from Moultrie, GA and attended Columbus High School. He then went on to the University of Georgia and after graduating, came back to Columbus. Ken then served in the National Guard. His next venture was to open the chic men and women's boutique known as "Ken & Co." where he was a great success for many years.
Ken was such a charmer to all who knew him and was well known in this community for his good deeds. After many years in the retail business, he decided to try his hand at selling real estate. Naturally, he was a success and shined as a million dollar member, selling many high end houses in the area. Ken was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will always be remembered by his quick wit, fabulous personality and devotion to those he loved. He had a giving heart and could never say "no" to anyone.
His passions were family and he loved to dance and he had a deep love for animals.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to PAWS, Inc. 4900 Milgen Rd. Columbus, GA 31907 or plant a tree in his honor at www.treesforisrael.org.
Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.mcmullenfuneralhome.com.

There is not a time that I visit family in Columbus that I do not think of Ken ... Ken was definitely one of those friends that we were able to pick up our bond where we left it. The last class reunion in Moultrie that he attended we went together and had a great visit. Ken was my first BOYFRIEND - we were in the fifth grade. I surely had a LOVE for our Friendship and do forever. A FRIEND INDEED. Kay Baxter Ulmer

My deepest condolences to Ken's family. He has been a friend for so many years. Always loved his kind heart. I will never forget, at my Daddy's funeral (Schley Snellings),I looked up and Ken was standing off from the crowd on a hill. He was looking very GQ, as always, in a red turtleneck, black coat and aviator sunglasses. Rest easy, friend.
