Eleanor Alexander Obituary
Peterborough, New Hampshire - Eleanor Eyck Alexander, 95, formerly of Berkeley, CA, died on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at RiverMead Retirement Community.
She was born October 4, 1913, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Erich and Hedwig (Kosterlitz) Eyck.
She obtained an M.A. in French Literature from the University of Michigan in 1967, and thereafter taught literature at University of California-Berkeley Extension.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Alexander, her sister, Irene Reuter, and her brother Frank Eyck. She is survived by her daughter Ann; sons Lawrence (Kay Kenny) and Michael (Jean); grandsons Daniel (Sarah), Alexander, and James (Kavita) Bhandary-Alexander; and great-granddaughters Iyla and Sahana Bhandary-Alexander, and great-grandson Aaron Alexander.
Friends will be received at a memorial service at RiverMead (150 RiverMead Road, Peterborough, New Hampshire) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, and at a graveside ceremony in Sunset View Cemetery (Fairmount and Colusa Avenues, El Cerrito, California, 510-525-5111) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Paul J. Alexander Memorial Endowment Fund (#W7253, University Relations--Gift Administration, 2080 Addison St., Berkeley CA 94720-4200), or to Monadnock Music (2A Concord St., Peterborough, New Hampshire 03458).
Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
