Michelle Bailey Obituary

Bailey, Michelle L. Michelle Lee Bailey (Mikesell), born July 20, 1955, age 60, of Wayland, passed away peacefully in the night to be with the angels on October 1, 2015. Michelle now joins her father Maurice Mikesell, who has been patiently waiting to welcome his little girl home, as well as her dearly missed brother, Marvin Mikesell, and her cherished friend, Michael Johnson. Michelle leaves behind, with tremendous love, her husband, Brian Bailey; and her beautiful children, Bradley with wife, Sophia, Aleisha with husband, Cameron, Emmy, Brody, Sierra, and Savana. She is now watching over her beloved grandchildren, Payton and Ella; as well as her mother, Elizabeth Mikesell; and brothers: Michael, Marty, Matt, Mitch, and Mickey, with their families. Michelle's light is also left with all the enormous amounts of people she treated like family and loved unconditionally. Michelle lived through her ballet and baton twirling. She was a teacher and performer. At one point of her life she attended Hawaii University, twirled baton for the Detroit Lions, and competed in the Miss Michigan pageant, which are some of her life's proudest moments. Although most people who knew her would say her life's most proud accomplishment was her children. They had her heart and now she will be in their hearts forever. Michelle was extremely passionate about her family and friends. She opened her arms to anyone and treated them like her own. Blessed with a huge heart, which left an imprint on so many people during her short time here on earth, Michelle is now dancing in heaven with her daddy, brother, friends, and heavenly Father. Her spunky personality and overwhelming love will be missed by so many, but will also live on through so many. We love you, Shelly! Last respects may be given on Wednesday, October 7, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, and Thursday, October 8, from 10:00-11:00am at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th St. SE, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday. A luncheon celebrating Michelle's life will follow at Discovery Church, 7245 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508. Thinking back and remembering our fun at Valleywood. The summer of Michelle's birthday when the first astronaut walked on the moon on her birthday. Then seeing her again in Lowell as adults. Always the sweetest person! Thankful for our friendship and knowing she's watching over all her family.

So sorry for your loss. I didn't know Michelle very well but we did spend many hours together in the concession stand wrapping hotdogs in tin foil and talking about our kids. She loved you all very much and now she will be watching over all of you. Hugs

So very sad to hear about Shelly. I loved her funny laugh, her constant smile, and her great love of her kids. I just can't believe it really. She never talked about herself, it was always about her children. So sorry kids, she was such a dedicated and loving mom, (and I'm sure grandma) I'm so sad for you. God bless you Shelly

Michelle was such a big part of my life growing up. I can't even imagine how many hours and days I spent with her at her house or at some of the local schools learning and teaching baton with her or all night rhinestoning costumes. Some of my favorite images of her is riding in the back of one of my Dad's dune buggys when she was a reigning Miss Wyoming. She was such a beauty inside and out and the sun will definitely shine a little bright because of her sme and warmth. RIP Michelle and we will see each other again, someday.
