COLLINS, Peter J. Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 7, 2017. Mr. Collins was born on January 4, 1968 in Beverly, Mass. to Arthur B. and Sandra C. (Lear) Collins. He was a 1986 graduate from St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, Mass. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1990 and a Master's degree in Finance from Boston College in 1999. Peter worked in the financial world for over a dozen years at several companies including Standish, Ayer and Wood, Mellon Bank and finally as a Senior Equity Analyst with Munder Capital Management. While never married, Peter was immersed in the lives of his niece and nephews whom he adored. Whether it was Red Sox games, skiing vacations or playing tennis, Peter was always surrounded by enthusiastic family members and a gaggle of adoring youngsters who looked up to him. His adventures with his family included a ski trip to Austria, zip-lining in Costa Rica and the annual deep-sea fishing trips on the Northshore. Soft-spoken, kind and big-hearted, Pete would often host the family Thanksgiving gatherings. Allowing his sisters and sister-in-law to take over the kitchen while he enjoyed all the camaraderie of his loving family, especially enjoying some rousing knee-hockey games and watching the Patriots. A consummate New England sports fan, he ardently followed and rooted for his hometown teams. In his early days, Pete played baseball with his brother Mike, usually coached by their dad Art. Pete's love of dogs began at an early age when he would often bring strays home. Unfortunately due to his brother's allergies, none were able to stay. Upon his semi-retirement, Pete finally got a dog of his own, his best buddy Sam. Pete was predeceased by his mother Sandra, and leaves behind his father Arthur Collins of Beverly, his sister Katherine Bonnar of Ipswich, Mass., sister Patricia Bright and her husband Cameron of Freeport, Maine, his brother Michael Collins and his wife Sharon (Jalbert) of Reading, Mass., as well as his beloved niece and nephews, Austin Bonnar of Washington DC; Timothy Bonnar of New York, NY; Wesley and Acacia Bright of Freeport, Maine; Owen and Griffin Collins of Reading, Mass. and his beloved chocolate lab Sam. A celebration of life will be held at the First Parish Church Congregational, 10 Central Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, on Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
