Richard Williams Obituary

Richard Lee "Dick" Williams Sr., 81, of Scottdale, passed away at his home Thursday, May 13, 2021, with his loving wife, Marjorie (Skovira) Williams, by his side. They would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 17, 2021. We are so very sad to announce his death. In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his daughter, Melissa Williams Brown and her husband, Phillip L. Brown, of Scottdale; and one son, Richard Lee Williams Jr., of Scottdale and Las Vegas, Nev. An only child, he was born Sept. 9, 1939, to the late Anna Katherine (Connors) Williams and Fred Leeper Williams. Dick was the son-in-law of the late Pauline and Sylvester "Jake" Skovira. Also preceding him in death were his sister-in-law, Sylvia Skovira O'Rorke; and brothers-in-law, Richard O'Rorke, Leo Faneuf and Joseph Vogrin. He was also preceded in death by a number of aunts and uncles. Surviving are his sisters-in-law, Elaine Vogrin, of Pittsburgh, and Pauline Faneuf, of Suffolk, Va.; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jake and Julia Skovira, of Acme. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. Dick retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines Inc., Irwin. Together with his father, they were proprietors of Williams Refuse in Mt. Pleasant and Williams Vending. After retirement, Dick and Marjorie traveled extensively to multiple countries, oftentimes on transatlantic cruises, every year. He spent winters with his wife and son in Las Vegas, Nev., and Scottsdale, Ariz. Dick will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring and compassionate man who lived life to the fullest. He will be sorely missed by his family, who loved him dearly. A private visitation will be held Sunday in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, and a public funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, with the Very Rev. Daniel Mahoney as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in St. John Parish Cemetery, Scottdale. To my loving "limo" driver. Without you I would have never made it to my wedding dinner! God blessed you to be a part of our loves which I will always be grateful. Rest easy now in the arms of God and continue to smile down upon all of us. To the entire Williams family, thank you for sharing your dad with me and my family!
