Sandra Gale (Ames) Quartemont

Sandra Gale (Ames) Quartemont entered her eternal rest on December 17, 2022 at her home in Hermosa Beach, California surrounded by her family. Sandra made a brave fight against ovarian cancer for the past 20 months. She was 79 years young.

Sandra was born on November 24, 1943 in Pueblo, Colorado to Oren Boyd Ames and Margie Waldren Ames (Taggart). After spending part of her childhood in Colorado, Sandra moved with her family to Leoti, Kansas, where she graduated from Wichita County High School in 1961. She later moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she would meet her husband, Lee Allan Quartemont of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while she was giving dance lessons and he was a member of the U.S. Air Force. The two fell instantly in love and were married in Milwaukee on November 28, 1964. They lived in Milwaukee until 1972, when they moved to Cudahy, Wisconsin to raise their three children. Sandra remained an active Cudahy resident until 2019, when she moved to Hermosa Beach, California.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lee, father and mother-in-law, Francis and Evelyn Sadowski Quartemont, her sister, Lorna Lou (Ames) Wiegers, sister-in-law Yvonne Ames, and special friend Elroy "Rosey" Rosenwinkel and his son, Ken. Left to cherish Sandra's memory are her children, Alan (Michele) Quartemont of Bentley, Louisiana, Gale Quartemont (Mike) Bolling, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kevin Quartemont of Hermosa Beach and a beloved Goddaughter, Anne Paczesny (Rich) Demski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her grandchildren include Miranda Quartemont (Mark) Klein, Ariel Quartemont (Taylor) Walls, Madeline Quartemont (Graham) Holt, Micah Quartemont, Aaron Quartemont, Andrew Quartemont and Mason Quartemont, along with Grant Willis, Lauren Willis, and Jessica Bolling. She also had four great grandchildren, Lilah, William, Nina and August Walls. She also loved her special "grand-dog," Otis.

Sandra is also survived by her brother, Norman Ames, brothers-in-law Dean Wiegers and Greg Quartemont, her nephews and nieces Deana Wiegers (Gearold) Leverett, Mike (Kathy) Wiegers, Russ (Cathy) Wiegers, Steven (Deb) Ames, Rodney (Leah) Ames, Janine Quartemont (Samuel) Adams, Joseph (Sophia) Quartemont, and James (Ilene) Quartemont, and her "adopted" children, Steve Rosenwinkel, Lynn Barnes, and Beth Rosenwinkel, as well as many other beloved relatives in the Quartemont, Ames and Wiegers families. A very special thank you to Nicole Wiegers Moore, who has been steadfast in her loving commitment and advocacy for Sandra and her family. Thank you to you, Paul, Brian and Henry for your love to our mother.

Sandra was loved by many, and her true family extended to her many beloved friends in Kansas, Wisconsin and California, including those she met during her work for the Cudahy School District, WTMJ Radio and her Hermosa Beach community, especially Paula and Ernie, Kay, Ila, Pat and Dan, Barb, Ronda, Bess, Betty, Ron and Ellie and many others. Her love for antiques, blue birds and sunflowers always made her home a welcoming place for all. Sandra loved life and made the most of each day.
