DON ULREY
LIMA — Don K. Ulrey, age 67, was called into the presence of the Lord at 5:35 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015, at his home.
Don was born October 23, 1948 in Lima, to the late Lawrence D. and Becky J. (Gray) Ulrey. On October 19, 1974 he married the love of his life, Sandra K. "Sandy" (Fisher) Ulrey, who survives in Lima. They were married 41 wonderful years.
Don was a 1967 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He is a decorated veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War and receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Ulrey retired on October 30, 2006 from the City of Lima. Don enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and playing water volleyball. He was a classic car enthusiast, who loved Thunderbirds. He was a dedicated husband, dad and grandpa, who enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Don and Sandy were blessed with two daughters, Julie L. (Eric) Kretz of Bluffton, Angie M. (Dave Haugh) Nichols of Mount Blanchard; three granddaughters, Lindsay Nichols of Mount Blanchard, Sarah Nichols, of Mount Blanchard and Bridgette Nichols, who preceded him in death.
Other survivors include his beloved K-nine granddaughter, Sandy; three brothers, John W. Ulrey of Lima, Brian L. (Diana) Ulrey of Lima, and Rodney L. Ulrey of Lima; three brothers-in-law, Chuck (Sharon) Fisher of LaFayette, Tim Fisher of Alger and Kevin Fisher of Lima; sister-in-law, Linda Fisher of Jackson Center and several nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by, two brothers-in-law, Mark Fisher and Mike Fisher
Funeral services will begin 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Chaplain Dick Coon will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Salem Westminster Cemetery, Westminster. Military Rites will be provided by the VFW Post #1275 and the United States Army.
Friends may call from 2:00- 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, November 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Citizens Services, 3400 W. Elm Street, Lima, Ohio 45807.
