LIMA — Daniel Joseph "Danny" Killian, 58, died at 6:39 PM on Monday, July 31, 2017, at his residence in Lima, Ohio.
Daniel was born on August 10, 1958, in Lima, Ohio, to the late George Killian and Norlene (Guthrie) Killian. On September 19, 2007, he married Courtney (Greenup) Killian, who survives.
Danny was employed at the Husky Refinery for 35 years and was a member of the Emergency Response Team. He will be dearly missed by his second family at the refinery. He was a 1976 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and continued to support the T-Bird athletic teams. One of his biggest pleasures was the fall football season so he could cheer on The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He was a member of the YMCA, and past member of the local Knights of Columbus and Elks clubs. He was also known in the local CYO boys and girls basketball league as a referee for the Saturday morning leagues. (Rumor was spreading that a new pair of glasses had been purchased for Danny by the CYO coaches and players for this coming season). He also dished out many an ice cream cone at the Dairy Queen on Allentown Rd. back in the 70's. He was a caring, loving and giving person and will be missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his dog and best bud Murphy (Meathead); mother-in-law Judy Greenup of Lima, father-In-law Jim Greenup of Kettering, brother Pat Killian of Lima, sister Beverly (Tim) Carder of Lima, sister, Barbara (Rob) Singer of Columbus, and brother Mike (Dianne) Killian of Columbus, nieces & nephews; Kacy (Ryan) Molloy, Kolby (Alyson) Harruff, Maggie (Octavio) Vega, Jordan Killian, Eric Killian, Brett Killian (Godson), Tobi Moore and Tara Joyce, and eight great nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima. Father David M. Ross will officiate. Interment will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2017 with a Parish Wake at 8:00 PM at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio. Feel free to wear the colors you know Danny would want you to wear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Central Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 720 S. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805; in Danny's name.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Danny's passing through a mutual friend yesterday. Danny was one of my best childhood friends and have fond memories of playing every sport imaginable with his buddies, Kurt Hoff, Dave Petenburg, and his brother Mike at his house across from Horace Mann school. I will miss him so much as he always was fun and a genuine human being. RIP my good friend.

What a great guy to work with. Easy going, kind and always willing to help out fellow workers. Danny was a great coworker and what every operator should aspire to be. He loved officiating the CYO games and sacrificed many hours of sleep when working nights to do so. He had a passion for many things. One of them being double fudge cookies and cold milk. I'll never forget you Danny. Thank you for all your help. Rest easy my friend.

Danny,
I was so saddened to hear of your passing this morning. You were always happy and smiling and a good friend and classmate. Very happy I got the opportunity to catch up with you last summer at the LCC Class of 1976-40th reunion, it was good to see you. I will always remember our grade school basketball games (St. Charles vs. St Rose), you were such a strong competitor and a joy to play with. Happy we became friends and classmates at LCC. Most fondly, I will always remember your radiant smile! RIP.

I met Danny one infamous bean bag game competition and gathering at Barb Killian's house many years ago. Talking smack and having a laugh filled day. So fun. Then one time (I hate to admit) he and I got toasty one night and we had so many laughs. Of course he had a Mercedes at the time and when I saw him it made me want one, so I bought one too. (I still have mine). I have not seen Danny in many years but he is one that has stayed in my thoughts. He just made a great impression on me. My heart goes out to the family.
