To Shannon, Faith, and Brenden,
Your husband and father would be so proud of all of you for supporting his legacy, living your lives to the best of your ability, and to honor his moral standards and ethics. At times, it may be difficult to make choices that are the best for your lives, but remember you are not alone in your endeavors. Dan is there for you and you must believe that he is watching and he is sending you strength in many ways that you may not realize.
These words are to honor Dan. Wishing you the best in honoring his legacy.

Arlene and Bill, Mr. Sharp's Family, His Children and All Others,
We did not know your wonderful son, Dad, Husband and/or Friend, but we heard a lot about him through our daughter, Katherine "Kelly" Mahoney (who knows Arlene and Bill through her job at Independence Village) and we read about Daniel through the obituary.
What a wonderful, dedicated, kind and caring son/husband/father Daniel must have been! He was so committed to the East Lansing Firefighters, his Church, his family and his whole community!
His very sudden passing must hurt very, very deeply...we are sure. However, as we have done with the passing of our loved ones, you must focus on how very blessed and lucky you were to have such an angel son/husband/father/brother in your life! God lends us these souls for a time, and, we believe that when He needs them back...He calls them Home...to Heaven.
Thank you for raising such a kind, caring, committed son and many thanks to Shannon and her family for "lending" him to the East Lansing" community through his work with our E.L. Firefighters.
Many, many prayers will be said while we think of you all, Arlene, Bill, Shannon and Family while you deal with the gut-wrenching pain of your huge loss.

Dan was a true humanitarian I attended East Lansing High School with him and he always smiled and appeared to be a happy guy! He loved his work and was a blessing to countless victims he helped save. We are all in debt to this fine man for his unselfish service. Dan, you will be sorely missed. Anyone who knew you knows how fortunate they are. You left us too soon. I knew Dan starting around age 5 and then all through school. He was kind and respectful. I had seen him in the last year at Home Depot. We had a fun conversation about Trojans, Spartans and old East Lansing stories. He also helped us during our East Lansing house fire in 2010. What a great family. I remember Dan well from my grade school days and had the opportunity to reconnect a few years ago when my Mother had a medical emergency and needed to be transported to the hospital.
