James A. Passanante

James A. Passanante Age 71, died July 23, 2009 in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was born on September 3, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and attended the University of Detroit. While living in Grosse Pointe, MI, he was President of the Rotary Club. James had his own business in Grosse Pointe before joining Jacobson's in East Lansing and retired as a Vice-President in 1988. He loved his children and was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and School and served in many volunteer capacities including Athletic Director. He strongly believed in a good Catholic education and continued to support the parish school up to his death. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Stuart Passanante of East Lansing, son James of Louisville, KY, son Michael of East Lansing, daughter Loretta Subhi of East Lansing; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. James was preceded in death by his son Thomas and son-in-law Hasan Subhi. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing.
