Douglas Kirk

Rev. Doug Kirk IDALOU-Douglas Ray Kirk of Idalou passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the age of 58. He was born Oct. 24, 1957, in Lubbock to William and Edna (Crowley) Kirk. Doug graduated from Idalou High School in 1976 and later married his high school sweetheart, Susan Sperry, on Aug. 19, 1978. He worked as the regional manager for Pilot Travel Center until becoming a full time minister in 2007. Rev. Kirk pastored the Wolfforth United Methodist Church until moving to his current congregation at Lorenzo United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mission Lubbock and Lorenzo Ministerial Alliance. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan; children, Matthew Kirk and wife, Jessica and daughter, Abigail of Hagerman, NM, Sarah Kirk and son, Jensen of Idalou, and Lindsey Sill and husband, Adam and son, Bronson of Meade, KS; siblings, Gloria and Wayne Krisp, Norma and Mel Jackson, Robert and Carolyn Hass, and Dennis and Margaret Kirk; sisters-in-law, Donna Hass and Lea Etta Hass; brother-in-law, Carl White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Charles Hass, Dianne White, and Randy Hass. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Wolfforth United Methodist Church. Memorial can be made to a charity of your choice.
