Ann Elizabeth Brunke

Brunke (nee Bacon), Ann Elizabeth,age 77, of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away early on Saturday, November 15, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Betty Bacon; and her devoted husband of 51 years, Dean Parker Brunke. She leaves behind their children, Susan Deann Brunke of Grosse Pointe Farms, and Russell Dean Brunke of Chesterfield Township. Ann earned dual bachelor’s degrees from Wayne State University in Biology and Primary Education. She later earned her master’s degree in Family Life Education and taught Home Economics at Grosse Pointe South and St. Clement’s High Schools. She then became an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Schweitzer Real Estate. She was the master of anything she put her mind to, whether it was charcoal drawings or ornate handwork. She loved nature and animals, especially birds and gardens. An active member of the Michigan Orchid Society, The Men’s and Women’s Garden Club of Grosse Pointe and The Grosse Pointe Rose Society. She became a master gardener and an avid orchid grower. She won many awards for her handwork including Orchidist of the Year 2007. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park Dr., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. Luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall. Interment will take place on December 10, 2014 at Elmwood Cemetery.
