Wayne Greenwood Obituary

Wayne Allen Greenwood

February 2, 1955 - August 8, 2025

Nashua, New Hampshire - Wayne Allen Greenwood, 70, of Nashua, NH, passed away Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born to Ernest and Charlotte (Turcotte) Greenwood on February 2, 1955, and was one of eight children. He was educated in the Nashua school system and was a lifelong resident of the city. He met his wife, the love of his life, JoAnne (Jean) Greenwood, in 1972 while employed at JF McElwain Manufacturing. They married in 1973 and raised three children.

Wayne spent most of his working career as an industrial mechanic. His employers included Beebee Rubber, W.R. Grace, Hampshire Chemical, and Saint-Gobain. In addition, Wayne started two businesses: a tile installation company, G&G Tile Company, and a home remodeling company, W. Greenwood Services. Over the years, Wayne enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including camping, fishing, kayaking, and exploring nature. He was a lover of music, whether attending concerts or listening to his album collection at home. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars and attending car shows.

Wayne was a self-professed hippie who always led with kindness. He was generous to strangers and friends alike and never missed an opportunity to tell those he loved how much they meant to him. Wayne was love personified. While he and Joanne had three biological children, they were affectionately called "Mom" and "Dad" by dozens more. Wayne's epic stories will continue to be shared, and his smile and laughter will not fade from the memories of those fortunate enough to have known him.

Wayne leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Joanne (Jean) Greenwood of Nashua; his daughter Kara (Greenwood) Post, her husband Jason Post, and their two sons, Jason and Nathan Post; and his daughter Michelle Greenwood. He was predeceased by his son Justin Greenwood. His surviving siblings and their spouses include Mark (Louise) Greenwood, Jan (Richard) Reed, Louann (Kenneth) Moore, and Steven (Linjay) Greenwood; brother-in-law Frank Weibel and his wife Arlene; and sister-in-law Marsha Greenwood. Wayne was predeceased by his sisters Marilyn Greenwood and Charlene Weibel, as well as his brother William Greenwood.

At Wayne's request, no formal services will be held. However, a Celebration of Life will take place in early September to honor him in a way most fitting to his spirit. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to his daughter Kara at [email protected]. In lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that you honor Wayne's memory by sharing an act of kindness. It is exactly what he would have wanted.
