Harry Freeman Obituary

Harry A. Freeman Jr.
1922 - 2016
FARMINGDALE - Harry A. Freeman, 94, of Farmingdale, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Augusta on Jan. 1, 1922, the son of Harry A. Sr. and Lillian (Small) Freeman. As a young man, Harry delivered the Kennebec Journal, early in the morning, before school.
He was a 1939 graduate of Cony High School where he was on the debate team. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes with the firemen at Hartford Station. While working at Hazard Shoe, Harry met the love of his life, Pearl Cote. They were married and spent 70 years together. Harry spent the rest of his working career at Hudson Pulp & Paper (Statler Tissue). In their retirement years, Harry and Pearl traveled to Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Foxwoods many times. Harry was involved in harness racing as an owner. He could be seen in line at the wagering window at tracks all over Maine and New England. He was also an avid bowler and cribbage player.
Mr. Freeman was predeceased by his wife Pearl, his brother Herbert Freeman, and his sister Lillian Emmons.
He is survived by his brother, Richard E. Freeman, of Augusta; his son, Richard H. Freeman, of Hallowell; his life partner, Sonya Trott, of Augusta; his granddaughters, Melissa Nimon and her husband Richard, of China, and Amy Kirkwood and her husband Kevin, of Augusta; his great-grandchildren, Donald Brochu of Augusta, Kyna Wright and her spouse April of Auburn, Sadi Nimon and her fiancé Michael Ratcliff of China, and Brad Brochu and his fiancée Jessyca Begin of Waterville; two great-great grandsons, Jayceon Walker and Landyn Brochu; along with several nieces and nephews.
Harry's favorite quote was, "Life is short, no matter how long you live."
There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Augusta on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 10 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta.
