Lola Minard Obituary

SCITUATE, Mass. -- Lola B. (Bean) Minard, of Scituate passed away at Life Care Center Scituate, on Feb. 26, 2010, at the age of 93.

She was wife of the late Donald Minard. Lola was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Maine. She attended Kents Hill School in Maine and apprenticed at the Maine State Library in Augusta, Maine, before getting married and moving to Scituate, where she lived for more than 60 years raising her family.

Lola was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, antiques, yard sales and lunches at Scituate Senior Center.

She was devoted mother of Atwood Hobbs, of Winterport, Maine, Ruth Blake, of Plymouth, Donna Sweeney, of Scituate, and the late John Hobbs; sister of Marjorie Scott, of Augusta, Harley Ward, of Goreville, Ill., and George Blake, of Portland, Maine.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lola was the oldest member of First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.

It was always a pleasure to see cousin Lola in Mount Vernon on her visits. I have wonderful memories of my boyhood with Lola and Ted.
