Jim was a dear friend and mentor to me for 36 years, from my first day as an Optacon teacher at Telesensory, to the generous opportunity he gave me when I acquired his second company, JBliss Imaging Systems in 2005. I kept his name in the company, to honor his contributions, and keep his inspiring presence alive.
He truly was a man of vision, who "brought light" - inspiration and access to information and meaningful work - to so many lives.
Jim had a unique, warm, ready laugh, a commitment to innovation and teamwork, and an infections spirit that inspired his friends and colleagues to try to make their own contributions.
His struggle with his final illness was brave and quiet, and thankfully, his passing was peaceful. He was a truly kind, gentle man.
My deepest condolences to his many colleagues, friends, and family. He will not be forgotten, and his spirit burns brightly in all of us who loved him.

Jim was a leader and innovator who had a tremendous influence on my life. My doctoral dissertation was a national evaluation of the Optacon project. I knew Jim through his invention of the Optacon and his work in the field of blindness and visual impairment. He was an inspiration in so many ways.. He was so bright, creative, approachable, generous, funny and had such incredible love for his family so. My life has been better because of him . My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those who had a special place in their hearts for Jim, who will be greatly missed.

Mr. Bliss, my life has been so wonderfully enriched by your having been in the world and helped to develop the Optacon. May you rest in peace, and may your family find comfort in knowing how many lives were touched by yours.

Telesensory Systems played such a huge role in the Proscia family history. Jim has continued over the more recent years to be a supportive personal friend of our family and he will be missed. His battle was long, and he is now at peace. Joan, Pete and I want to express our sincere sorrow for your family's loss.
Warmest Regards,
Pete and Phyllis Proscia
