Thomas John "TJ"
Duignan(36,) was called to Heaven on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in Brentwood, CA. TJ battled cancer for the last year and is now at peace. TJ is survived by the love of his life, Margie, and his two beautiful children, Skylar (7) and Owen (2). He is also survived by his parents Thomas Duignan and Betty and Gerald Berry who will miss him dearly. His loving sisters Michelle, Alisa and Stephanie will cherish their memories with him forever. TJ also leaves behind his beloved parents-in-law John and Lillian Shebelut and sister in-law Nicole. Other survivors include Grandmother Connie Hilsendager; brothers-in law, Andrew Devlin and Maurice O'Grady, nieces; Elizabeth, Erin, Lindsey and nephew Jake. Thanks ! go out for the huge outpouring of love and kindness from the hundreds of special friends and family who have supported them through this ordeal and who continue to be there for the family, with a special mention to close friends, Scott and Susie Pagter. TJ was born in Daly City on May 3, 1970. He graduated from South San Francisco High School and attended San Jose State University. TJ began his career at Chili's fifteen years ago and it's been said there has never been someone so passionate about his job or who loved to go to work each day with a big smile on his face. He touched the lives of many during his time there and the support Chili's and the Chili's family has shown him and his family during this difficult time will be forever appreciated. TJ loved kids and all kids loved him. He passed on his love of sports to his children by coaching both soccer and T-Ball and was an avid fan of the 49ers, Giants! and Warriors. I only met TJ a couple of times. But I am a life-long friend of his dear mother, Betty. Through her I have come to know what a wonderful son, father and husband he was. Margie, Skylar and Owen will remain in my prayers. I can't know Betty's pain, but I share it. As tragic as this was, it was also a beautiful story of faith and family love.

T.J. Duignan gave me my very first job and taught me a lot about the work world and getting along with others. I am happy to say that my working with him has helped me find better jobs and I am more optimistic about my professional future.
I am so sorry to hear about his passing and my heart goes out to Margie, Skylar, Owen, and the rest of T.J.'s family.

Margie, Skyler, and Owen-
TJ was a special person and an inspiration to many. Positive, big-hearted and funnier than most. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel important and special. He made my time at Chili's very rewarding and I know that all of the other older Chili-Head's feel the same way. We had one hell of a store and a ton of awesome memories! As a friend, he always made me laugh with his quick wit and one-liners. He will be greatly missed by all. Take great care and may God be with you....
Love Always-

We met TJ when he was a manager at
the Concord Chilis. He was so good
with the customers-always making us feel special. We missed him when he went to Pleasanton so were
happy to have him back in the area
at the Antioch store. He still remembered us and always had time to say hi and ask how we were doing
We wish to express our deepest sympathies to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
We hope that you will get some comfort knowing how many people thought so much of TJ

TJ was a wonderful manager. I have know TJ since his first day at Pleasanton Chili's over five years ago. He always said that "you aren't smiling big enough if the guest isn't smiling back." TJ lived by this in his life and I do to. Thank you for touching my life in som many ways! You will be missed!

I was fortunate to meet TJ about eight years ago when I was going through my Chili's management training in Walnut Creek and he worked in Concord. We talked on the phone occassionally and he never failed to make me laugh every time. I left Chili's in 2000, but was so happy when he was transfered to Pleasanton. My husband I saw him there often. He always had a big smile for everyone and a great story to tell about Margie, Skylar and/or Owen. His love for his family was very apparent. I want to express my deepest condolences to his entire family. Words aren't enough at this time, however, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I only knew T.J for just over two years. We were what you might call "only professional friends." Nonetheless, we spoke often. T.J. was about to be promoted, but, today, that seems so small, so trivial. For those of us who only knew T.J. professionally, it is hard to imagine ever "getting over" T.J. even though we only had a brief brush with him in the work arena. I imagine that for you who knew him best -- his family and his non-professional friends, the hurt will never heal. There are people in the world who just can't be replaced. There are hurts that cannot be healed. I am so sorry for your loss. In my limited way, I am sorry for my loss. But above all else, I cannot begin to fathom your loss. I am so sorry.
