Nancy Waggoner Obituary

Nancy Richmond Waggoner Passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2009 at the age of 81. She was a loving mother to John Carpenter (Jodi), Macy Carpenter Walsh, Nancy Carpenter Bahara, Brock Carpenter (Lisa) and Kacy Carpenter. She will be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren plus 2 nieces and a nephew. Born and raised in Rochester New York she graduated college from Mount Holyoke before raising a family outside of Rochester while freelancing as a portrait painter. Eventually she moved with her husband Norman "Monnie" Waggoner (deceased) to California, in 1969. After retiring from Lockheed Nancy moved to The Villages in San Jose, where she made many dear friends. She was very active in this community; editing and writing articles for the newspaper, serving on Homeowner committees, swimming with the Dippy Dolphins, golfing and other pursuits. Nancy's biggest love was her painting. Once primarily a portrait painter she branched out during retirement doing landscapes, still-lifes, paintings of America's Cup races and even surfers! She was never shy about critiquing her fellow Art Club members' work! Nancy's family will miss her dearly and are very lucky to have had her for a Mom, an Aunt, a Gramma and a Great Gramma! A memorial service is planned for 2 pm, October 3, 2009, at St. Jude the Apostle Episcopal Church in Cupertino, California, followed by a private, family service and then a reception in the Parish Hall . In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
