Carolyn Walsh Obituary

Carolyn Frances Walsh
Resident of Santa Clara
Carolyn Frances Walsh passed away on March 31, 2016 in Santa Clara surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born on October 31, 1923 in Wichita, KS to Clendon Frank and Effie Mae Adell. She was preceded in death by husband Thomas, daughter Patty Walsh-Ewing, and son-in-law Greg Hullin. Carolyn and Tom married in 1947 in Wichita and moved to Santa Clara in 1952. She was an accomplished violinist and performed in the Wichita State University Symphony. Mom devoted much of her adult life raising her eight children. She also worked at Teledyne in Sunnyvale, CA from 1972 to 1987. Mom was in the St. Justin choir and the Ladies Guild, and was an avid reader. She was the mother of Patty (deceased), Mary (Greg), Michael, Carolyn (Arlen), Colleen (James), Christine, Linda (Tara), and Margaret. She was grandmother to Kathryn (Richard), Thomas, Theresa (Michael), Patrick, Elise, Randall, Lauren, Owen, and Gavin and great grandmother to Ashlyn, Charley, and Wyatt. Mom's favorite and cherished activity was family gatherings and was always in the center of all the festivities. We will truly miss her warmth, her smile, her sense of humor, and the way she made every person feel special. The visitation will be 4/8/2016 from 5 to 9 PM with the rosary at 7 PM at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. in Santa Clara. The funeral will be held on 4/9/2016 at 1 PM at St. Justin Catholic Church, 2655 Homestead Rd. in Santa Clara.

I remember many meals at her dinner table. I don't think anyone was ever refused a place at the table. She was a kind and sweet person. Raising eight children would be a difficult task for anyone, yet she did it with strength, dignity, faith and graciousness. It was an honor to know her. She was an example to us all.
