Charlotte Mary Goyak Guppy was born on March 18, 1943, to Mary and Ivan Goyak. She grew up in El Sobrante, CA, graduating from DeAnza High School. Charlotte pursued her nursing degree from the University of San Francisco but stopped shy of graduation when she met Steve Sierra. They married quickly, and soon after gave birth to a daughter, Nancy, in 1964.
In 1969, Charlotte and Steve moved to Orinda so that Charlotte could join the family business. After many years, Charlotte decided to embark on some new adventures and became a business partner in Brassworks, Inc., Go Team Sportswear, and Charlotte Lee Interiors. She thoroughly enjoyed them all as it brought out her natural creativity and ability to connect with people.
In 1993, Charlotte married George Guppy. George brought two more children into Charlotte's life whom she loved very much, Ashley and Carter.
Charlotte had boundless energy for her friends, gardening, flower arranging, and above all, interior design and shopping. Among Charlotte's innumerable pastimes was her affinity for the Orinda Garden Club, the "How Much Fun Do You Want to Have Club," and most recently the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Club" in Grass Valley, CA. If there was a party to plan or a fundraiser to host, Charlotte was at the front of the line to volunteer. She was especially happy when she could design and create the centerpieces.
Despite her best effort to beat cancer once and for all, Charlotte passed away on November 28, 2025, in Orinda. She was surrounded by her children, Nancy and Carter; grandchildren, Ivan Henry and Bella; brother, John; and close friend, Dinora. Charlotte was deeply loved by her family, friends, and long-time partner, Ken, and will remain in our hearts forever.
