Daniel Lattuca Obituary

Daniel E. Lattuca, 63, a former Maynard resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 7th, 2015 in East Stroudsburg, PA after a battle with cancer. Born in Concord and raised in Maynard, he was the son of Italia (Marcon) Lattuca of Framingham and the late Louis J. Lattuca. A lifelong musician, his profession and passion was music. He was primarily a keyboardist but also enjoyed singing and playing the drums. As a youngster he played the organ at St. Bridgets Parish in Maynard, and during his school years played in local bands. Following graduation he moved to New York, lived for a time in NJ and settled in East Stroudsburg. His early career included recording jingles for Shipley-Marks, and performances and demos with Freedom Express (the former Buddy Miles Express), Brother to Brother Band, Ohio Players, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Rufus and Chaka Kahn, the Eric Gale Band, Stumblebunny, and Chubby Checker in venues worldwide. In recent years he played gigs in his local tri-state area of PA, NY and NJ with Thunder Hill, and in the Pocono area with Bonnie Childs and Tony Delaria, Dennis Jeter and Jessie Green. A highlight was touring, performing and recording with The Police Pipe and Drums of Bergen County, including at Carnegie Hall and for the first 9/11 Memorial Concert at the Javits Center. Mr. Lattuca also was employed for many years in the aerospace industry with Allied Signal, now L3 Communications in NJ. He enjoyed fishing and loved to golf. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Russell Lattuca, niece Nicole and nephew John, all of Natick; his godchildren, Rachel MacDonald of NJ and Dominique and Francesca Kurtz, all of East Stroudsburg; and extended family and a large network of close friends from his years in the music industry. He was the brother-in-law of the late Janice Lattuca. Visiting hours are Tuesday, Jan. 13th from 4 - 7 pm at Boyle Brothers Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave, Framingham. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 14th at 10 am in St. Patricks Manor, 863 Central St, Framingham, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd (Rte. 117) Maynard. Those who wish may make memorial gifts in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140. Memorial page www.boylebrothers.com.
