KAREN S. McCOLLUM FEB 15, 1949 - JUNE 29, 2005 Karen McCollum was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on February 15, 1949 and passed away June 29, 2005 in Merced, California at the age of 56.
Karen worked for Merced College, the Merced Adult School and donated her extra time to Yosemite Church. Her favorite activity was watching her daughters play softball.
She is survived by her husband, Loyd McCollum of 22 years; daughters Alicia and Deborah; sisters, Claudene Gilmore of Nepoleon, North Dakota, Linda Versheldon of Mapleton, Oregon, Judy Beck of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Roxanne Steed of Oakdale, California; and brother, Leo Fried of Hominy, Oklahoma and Kelly Fried of Tehacappi, California. She is also survived by her mom, Sybil Fried of Merced, California.
A memorial service will be held at Yosemite Church in Merced, 2230 E. Yosemite Avenue at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2005.
A scholarship in Karen McCollum's name will be established for a GED recipient who will attend Merced College. Donations can be made to the Merced Adult School 50 East 20th Street Merced, CA 95340.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.

Karen is an amazing woman who lives on in the amazing lives of her family. She is an example of selfless caring and we love her and will miss her while we're apart.

We were shocked and so saddened to learn of Karen's passing. She was a beautiful lady and someone who loved everyone. Our hearts are saddened for Loyd and girls.
