I will miss seeing Dorothy toddling by my house each day with her trusty sketch pad in hand. She loved capturing this little town in its small town glory. She has so many sketches of buildings, parks and people that she brings to life in her paintings and different art mediums.I do not believe there has been a day in her life that she hasn't done piece of art.She was truly a force to be reckoned with in the valley
art world. IT was truly her passion and her love for her dear husband Bob and family that kept her vibrant.
She would always walk 18 blocks each day rain or shine. She told me once she had to keep moving so she wouldn't become housebound. She said her walks gave her a chance to meet new FRIENDS and keeping the connection with old friends.
Being a fellow artist, it always made me proud to know such a lovely woman with so much passion and spirit for her art and writing skills.
Dorothy will be sorely missed by me and many others.Rest in Peace Dorothy and paint Gods heaven with the love and joy you have left us.
My condolences to Bob and his family. Just know there are others that will share in your grief and pray for you
Bob and your family.
I will always have loving thoughts of Dorothy and how she colored my life.

Dorothy befriended me as a new Escalon resident and as a fellow artist 10 years ago. Dorothy introduced me to the local art community. She encouraged me to enter art shows. She took Spanish lessons from my daughter, Gloria Erickson, a teacher in the Escalon School District. Dorothy kept trying the rest of her life to learn Spanish. She never, ever stopped sketching, drawing and painting. She would walk an 18 block round trip with her walker to sketch downtown Escalon. Dorothy and her husband, Bob, welcomed me to their home for family and friend get-togethers often. Dorothy Girling was and is a 'Personage' of rare repute in the Town of Escalon. She will be sorely missed.

Dorothy Girling was a beautiful, kind, and generous lady who was dedicated to cultivating the artistic talents of local children, including our son. She patiently volunteered her time and talent to encourage him, and other children, to sketch and paint whatever their hearts desired. She encouraged our son to join the Oak Valley Art Society and to enter his art in many local art shows. Thanks to Dorothy, his room, and our home, is filled with his framed art and all of the many ribbons he has won. She was a very special friend and will hold a special place in our hearts. We will miss her.
