Paul Patterson Obituary

Paul Patterson
February 11, 1957 - January 11, 2021
Modesto, California - Paul Robert Patterson, 63, a renowned local jewelry designer passed away at his home in Modesto on January 11. Until his retirement in 2014 from his business, Patterson Jewelers, which he took over from his father, Robert Patterson, Paul served the Modesto community as a master designer, diamond setter and gemologist. When not at his work bench, Paul indulged his passion for gold mining and spent many weekends in the foothills near Mariposa.
Paul is predeceased by his mother, Flora G. Patterson and his father, Robert H. Patterson. He leaves behind his loving partner of 40 years, Pamela Poulos, daughters Danyelle Patterson, Athena Cline, and Chandra Seeds, a brother, Frank Young of Sarasota, Florida, eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He loved spending time in Kona, listening to Reggae music, fishing, playing with his rocks and his dogs.
In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be scattered in Kona Hawaii and near his weekend mining site in the foothills where he found such joy.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Old Fisherman's Club, 10800 Maze Blvd., Modesto, California.

Dear Pam and Family,

I am so very sorry to learn of Paul's passing from this life! I learned of his passing because I was actually searching for him. I wanted him to make a special ring for my youngest daughter Caroline. He set some sapphires for her once before and we were so pleased with his artistry!
I am so very sad to learn if his passing! I know you must miss him terribly!

We got to know you both through Flora and because you were two shops ahead of us on McHenry Avenue. You were both kind to us and ovely people to know. Paul designed and made a very special Mother's ring for me utilizing my Grandma Fitzpatrick's engagement diamond plus the birthstones of my daughters. That ring, plus my wedding ring, survived a robbery so I always felt it was especially blessed! My husband and I were so happy with Paul's work! He always had a smile for us and I loved looking at all your cool designs when we walked by your shop window!

Please know of our love and prayers for you all. He was one of a kind and is truly missed!

I was only just getting to know Paul based on our shared love of lapidary and stone carving. He shared lots of stories of the interesting people he had met and wonderful thing he had made. He was kind to me and my heart goes out to his loved ones.

Paul was my brother. Though we took different paths in our lives, he had remarkable talents. I wish I had spoken to him before his passing; there was much we could have shared and resolved. I will always hold you in my heart, Paul. Be at peace.
To Pam, Athena, Kaden, and all his devoted family and friends, I mourn with you and pray you will find continuing strength in the memory of what a warm, kind person Paul really was.
