David Roger Patterson was born on December 23, 1942, in Harlan County, Kentucky, and passed away on January 18, 2026, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his loving family.

David lived a full and meaningful life, spending many years in Chicago, IL, before making his way to Oklahoma City where he made it his home. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willa Kaye Petty Patterson, whom he loved deeply.

David is survived by his two sons, Dave Patterson and his spouse Heather of Fort Worth, Texas, and James Patterson and his partner Julian Trejo and daughter in law Fran Patterson of Oklahoma City. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Ebbie and her spouse Chase of Oklahoma City, Andrew of Fort Worth, Georgia of Oklahoma City, Katie of Fort Worth, Nathan of Fort Worth, and Addie of Oklahoma City. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Atticus and Diana of Oklahoma City, who brought him immense joy.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, David Monroe Patterson and Dallie Vanover Patterson, Siblings, Patrica Burns, Delmer Pete Patterson, Donald Patterson, and Michael Patterson. He is also survived by siblings, Elsie Patterson of Bridgeview, IL, Bessie Sweeny of Lockport, IL, and Neil Patterson of Logansport IN.

David was cremated in Oklahoma City. Interment will be announced at a later date and will take place at Palestine Cemetery in Paris, Tennessee.

David absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He also found great enjoyment in fishing and was a lifelong fan of NASCAR-interests that brought him both excitement and peace.

David will be remembered for his love of family, his warm presence, and the care he showed to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
