Bonjour Talleen,

Agop was a great human being who truly did great things.

He is now a story in the numerous lives of the people he touched, his students, his readers, his friends and of course his family.

My wish for all of us that are left behind is that at least one of his grandchildren picks up where he left off to do even greater things, in their own unique way.

I think that that is what Agop would have wished for.

You were a very important part of my childhood; I feel like another branch has been cut off from the big tree....But what you have etched in our lives and hearts will be a legacy that will live with us forever.

The priest quoted an African proverb:
"When a man dies, a library burns to ground."
In your case part of your library will live on
in actual libraries, schools, homes and
the hearts and minds of the people close to you.
You will always be remembered....

Dear Hacikyan family,

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Agop Hacikyan. The literary world lost a bright intellectual and author; the Armenian community lost one its own, a rare human being whose contributions have made a profound difference and whose legacy is treasured by many.
We will remember him fondly and miss him dearly.

On behalf of our executive board, our chapters in Toronto, Montreal and Cambridge, we offer our sincere condolences to all of you.

May he rest in peace and may God bless his soul.

Dear Brigitte and Family,
It is with great sadness that Noémi and I learned of Agop's passing. We send you our sincere condolences. Agop was a dear friend. We taught together, wrote, edited, laughed and ate together in every restaurant in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Although we hadn't seen each other for a number of years, I will always cherish the memories of our time together and the kindness he showed me.
Rest in peace,
Lorne Shirinian

Dear Hagop, we walked a similar teaching and writing path, you and I, for many reasons. Most importantly our mothers were good friends. And we were graduates of the same school. We were going to collaborate on a book; somehow it got side tracked. But you gave me space in your Anthology of Arm. Lit. Internet was not invented yet when we made those plans. I shall always remember our last meeting in Montreal at the Diocesan Armenian Conference. Many moons ago!!!Rest in Peace dear Hagop.

Bien chaleureusement,

Ed Franchuk

Talleen:
My memories of your father are a very important part of my past, not only because of his warmth and attentiveness when I was a child, but more recently, because of the impact his book "A Summer Without Dawn" had on me. I also remember as a child how very proud of you he was. My deepest sympathies to you and all your family. Love from Marianne Cuhaci

Mr. Agop was a good friend of many of us at the Lebanon-Quebec Cultural Forum.
We remember his sadness at the funerals of his good friend John Asfour last November where he said that he never imagined that John would precede him. As he joined him now, they will be friend forever.
