Bettye Jones Obituary

Johnson Jones Bettye Johnson Jones passed away in Midland, on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the age of 84. A memorial service will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel, in Midland, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012. Bettye is to be cremated and her ashes will be buried next to her parents, Viola Calaway and William Bolton Johnson, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas. Bettye is survived by her husband, Charles R. Jones; three daughters, Charla Lynn Jones, Fran Elaine Norwood, and Claire Lee Hinkle; and four grandsons. Bettye was born in Ft. Worth, graduated from Polytechnic High School, and received a bachelor's of education from Sul Ross University. She taught fourth and fifth grades in Texas and Oklahoma, during her career. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Midland and Yucca Garden Club. She was a loving wife and mother, a devoted friend, and a lover of animals, flowers, and books. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com.

My thoughts are with the family. Mrs. Jones was a kind and gentle person who had respect for all living creatures. I will remember that she established Oreo's birthday on the day he arrived from Durango, it was the beginning of their time together.
