George Ferguson Obituary

FERGUSON, MR. GEORGE T. (Husband of Elma "Ole") Norton Shores Mr. George T. Ferguson, age 86, passed away Tuesday evening, January 14, 2014 at his home. George was born May 14, 1927 to George A. and Isabel (Nelson) Ferguson in Grand Rapids. On June 19, 1948 he married the former Elma "Ole" Zellar in Muskegon. George started painting and papering in 1945 with Wright and Klett. He was currently owner and operator of Ferguson Painting which he started in 1963. He was still working at his craft until his death. He and Ole were members of the Travel Trailer Club of Michigan. George loved working in the yard and puttering in shop, making things for his family. He was a kind, gentle man who was as devoted to his family as they were to him. George is SURVIVED by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ole; his daughters, Joyce (Vern) Borgman of Norton Shores, Darlene Smith of North Muskegon and Dyana (Michael) Gronback of Grand Haven; his son, Dale (Mary Lou) Ferguson of Fruitport; seven grandchildren, Bradley (Juli) Borgman, Jene' (Jason) Grimm, Cathryn (Justin) Kitchka, Christine Smith, Nichole (Brian) McGowan, Melissa (Roye) Allen, and Mikayla Gronback; eight great-grandchildren, Jamison, Brennan, Jeremiah and Brylee Borgman, Bradey Grimm, Heath McGowan, Mallie McGowan and Kyra McGowan; and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ken, Arlin and Alfred Ferguson; sisters, Virginia and Bernice; son-in-law, Michael L. Smith; step-sister, Clarabelle; and step brothers, Ralph and Roy. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 20, 2014 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Jeffrey Boersema officiating. VISITATION will be Sunday from 2-6:00 PM. and one hour prior to the service (10-11:00 AM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to The American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or a charity of your choice. Burial will be made in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
