Joseph Tufaro Obituary
North Plainfield - North Plainfield - Joseph V. Tufaro 79, died Saturday October 6, 2018 at his home in Newton. Mr. Tufaro was born and raised in Plainfield and lived most of his life in North Plainfield before recently moving to Newton. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Joseph retired as Police Officer after 30 years starting his first few years with Plainfield PD and then continuing with the North Plainfield PD. He was a lifetime member of the NJ State PBA, and an avid bowler. He was predeceased by a brother Vincent D. Tufaro Jr. and a sister Marie Burgess. Surviving is his wife Barbara Adams Tufaro, three sons, Rocky and wife Cathi of Stewartsville, Brian and wife Lissette of Byram and Larry and wife Arlene Tufaro of Newton. Also surviving is a brother Michael and wife Karen Tufaro of Byram and sister Nancy and husband Michael Peterson of North Plainfield, and eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Services will start 2:30 pm Tuesday at Scarpa-Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield. Visiting hours also Tuesday 11:00 am until time of service. Cremation will be private.

So many of my fondest childhood memories include the time we lived on Grove Street, having you as our neighbors and family friends. Joe stands out especially in my memories for his sense of humor and fun, his smile and the twinkle in his eyes, and for his dedication to his work and family. My heart goes out to you as you say farewell to such a beloved soul, and I share in your sorrow. This world is a better place because he was here with us for a while.

From Joe Yuzuik: "GREAT MAN" - He was my 'Hero' when I was growing up in Plainfield. Remember babysitting Rocky back in the day. Joe came home one night and asked me if I could do this: he held out (in both arms) two (2) - 50# barbells outstretched and held them for almost (2) minutes! I "Really" respect everything he stood for and proud to say "He was my Friend"! ! !
