MARGARET "PEGGY" E. (FAULKNER) GRIFFIN
AGE: 87 NEWTOWN
Margaret "Peggy" E. (Faulkner) Griffin, 87, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. She was born May 4, 1921 in Peekskill, NY to Charles E. and Miriam Dyckman Faulkner. She grew up in Peekskill and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1939. She received her undergraduate degree form Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1944. After graduating, she returned to Peekskill and worked for Westchester County as a social worker. She married Warren B. Griffin of Yorktown, NY on August 30, 1947 in Peekskill. The family moved to Green Brook, New Jersdy in 1956 where Peggy worked first as a Probation Officer for Somerset County Probation Department and then as a school social worker for Franklin Township School District. She retired form Franklin Schools in 1986. In 1975 the family moved to Atlantic Highlands. Besides being an avid equestrian and an excellent bridge player and teacher, Peggy was actively involved in many organizations where she devoted many hours of time and leadership including the Heart Society, the United Way, The Solarium club of Monmouth University and the Woman's Auxiliary of the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club. She was immensely proud of her role and hard work in the creation and building of the Green Brook Swim club.
Surviving her are her daughter and son in law, Alisha Griffin and Thomas Crook of Yardley, PA; son and daughter in law, Barry E. and Charlotte Griffin of S. Brunswick, NY; daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Griffin of York PA; and grandson, Daniel P. Griffin of York, PA.
The family will receive friends on Friday February 27, 2009 from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Montrose, NY.
