My dears, I felt blessed to know Aaron even just a little. I pray that you find consolation in the love that is more powerful than cancer.

Dr Lazare set a tone of maturity, egalitarianism, and mutual respect. Entering Umass as a medical student when he was newly at the helm, I found the entire institution to be held in this calming presence. He inspired us as medical students to not only be our best, but to be authentic doing so. I will remain ever grateful for his teachings.

Louise:
I'll always remember Aaron as a good friend and colleague during those years at MGH. It was such an honor to share the joys and sorrows you both experienced during that time. I'm shocked and saddened by his death.

We found all sorts of reasons to chat too long because we wanted to. He was a kind human being, with a wonderful understated sense of humor. Once, he said, his father asked what he did all day. He told his father he had just seen a woman patient who had trouble having a good relationship with a...
