McNeece-Morris Funeral Home - Fulton Obituary

Aaron Lee Loden passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1948, in Itawamba County, to the late Glen Clayton Loden and Velda Mae Wilburn Loden. Aaron served honorably in the US Army and had a diverse career as a businessman and in local government, serving as the Itawamba County Tax Collector. Alongside his wife Susan, Aaron ran Fulton Skateland for over 25 years, where they loved getting to know the people in the community and watching the local kids grow up. He was passionate about working on his farm and nurturing thoroughbred horses to become future racers. Known for his keen eye for spotting a deal, he enjoyed studying pedigrees and spending time at the track, a passion that brought him immense joy throughout his life. A born-again Christian, Aaron served as a deacon for Big Oak Baptist Church in Fulton, MS, and later attended Gum Tree Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, MS.

Funeral services to celebrate Aaron’s life will be held at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 401 S. Cummings St., Fulton, MS 38843, on Tuesday, July 9, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.

Aaron is survived by his sister, Margaret Spigner; his daughter, Kayla Potts; his son, Clayton Loden; his son-in-law, Adam Potts; and his cherished grandchildren, Maddox, Zane, Micah, and Zion Potts.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Loden, and his brothers, Glen Allen (Dude), William, and Larry; and his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Regional Rehabilitation Center, 615 Pegram Drive, Tupelo, MS 38801.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Beyer, Mike Buse, Bobby Howery, Jesus Ayala, Jeff Wilburn, and Stephen Wardlaw.

Aaron’s legacy of love, service, and passion for life and others will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Aaron. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Not sure what to say?

I connected with Aaron via the Jockey Club upon discovering his breeding program had produced the 2005 gelding, Cosmo Kramer, which I have joyfully owned since 2016. Aaron was delighted to hear of what became of Cosmo, that he is now a cherished pleasure horse, hunter and low level Eventer. I shared photos of Cosmo with him, and was so pleased. My heartfelt condolences to Aaron's friends and family, I am saddened to hear of the passing of a fellow Thoroughbred enthisiast.

Your father was a good person. May you find comfort knowing he is enjoying heaven with your mom

The world has lost a bright light. I was blessed to work with Big A and Mrs. Susan for several years as a teenager and witness his love of family and community. The Loden’s poured their hearts into the kids that visited the skating rink and their employees. So many wonderful and funny memories I’ll cherish always. Much love and peace to Kayla, Brother and Mrs. Spigner.

My fondest childhood memories centered around the Fulton Skateland and Mr. Aaron. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. What an amazing thing to leave a legacy as Mr. Aaron has as he touched so many lives and brought so much joy to our town. My thoughts are with his family & friends during this time of great need.

Aaron and Susan Loden were a beacon of light for the youth in my hometown, Fulton. So many of us frequented Itawamba Skateland and were fortunate to have found a safe haven to hang out with friends and to roller skate to great music! Robin and Vicki Gray were the original owners with the dream to build the rink, and the Lodens kept it alive for us. I loved working there, especially on Saturday mornings as the skating clown and behind the concession stand swirling cotton candy! I still hear...

What a great man!! He always treated me like a son. From the days of little league baseball to working at the skating rink, he was always good to me. I will miss him greatly. I have lots of memories of helping him with hay for his farm. Most recently, he came to an ICC football game to watch my son play. May the Lord bless his family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I have many memories at the Skating ring talking to Mr Aaron. Me and his daughter Kayla went to school together.

so many memories of Aaron being Aaron - a kind soul who enjoyed helping others. From my youth at the skating rink to my adult life knowing a friend. Missing you buddy....

You will be missed by so many people. Thanks for all the years at the church and skating rink memories.jennyparks.
