On Sunday, December 5, 2021, our hearts were saddened by the loss of our sister, Miss Adrian Marie Williams more lovingly known as "Aunt." She was a loving and caring sister, aunt, and great-aunt. Her sudden passing has left an empty space in our lives and in our hearts.
Adrian was born on August 4, 1954, to Charles and Thelma Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Russell, and nephew Jacobi Moody.
Adrian was baptized at Rocky Branch Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She attended the Petersburg Public Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1972. She attended Virginia State University, where in 1975 she received a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Her love of children and teaching was present every day of her life.
Adrian began her teaching career in Mecklenburg County where she taught for 3 years before teaching in Dinwiddie County. She retired after 32 years of teaching but, continued to work as a substitute teacher. Teaching was a joy and a gift for her.
Adrian never had any children of her own but she was affectionately known as "Aunt" to everyone.
Left to cherish her memories are her two devoted sisters, Patricia Moody and Nadine Williams-Cooper (Dwayne); three loving nieces Lacey and Jamie Moody, and Jessica Newby Rouse (Benjamin); two precious great-nieces, Mariah and Melah; three loving nephews Camron, Joseph, and Lukas. Also left to cherish her memories are three uncles, five aunts, cousins, friends, and neighbors, among them Dr. Pamela Fields Joyner and Tonya Crawley.
Adrian was always a helper and a giver. She has certainly earned her wings and will rest in the arms of Jesus forever.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 12 Noon at the Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Sutherland, Virginia, with the Rev. Dr. Lynn G. Robinson officiating, and the Rev. Dr. Kevin M. Northam eulogizing. Burial will be at the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie.
A public viewing will take place on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Joseph M. Johnson Funeral Home Petersburg Chapel from 12:00 to 7:00 pm.
