COLLIER, Aidan Aidan Collier passed away on January 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. He was born August 27, 2000 in Austin, Texas to Kelly Kaheny Collier and Matthew Collier. Aidan was raised in Austin and moved to Dallas in 2016 and attended The Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy in Austin and Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. He was a student, musician and artist. In his spare time, Aidan was a creative soul and an avid fan of music and technology. When he was not listening to music at concerts or at home, he was creating it on synthesizers. He loved to learn, share, collaborate with other aspiring and performing musicians, and was not afraid to risk an Open Mic night at Sam Ash to try out new patches. He was a passionate programmer; from developing his own operating system, actively working to build an online synthesizer to contributing as a part of the Antergos development team (Linux. Of course.) Aidan enjoyed his travels here in the US, Ireland, Canada, UK, France, Japan and celebrating his Irish and many other cultures we are so blessed to know. A Life Scout with Troop 61, Aidan joined scouting at age 7. His adventures included a 65-mile backpacking trip in Philmont, New Mexico, an 85-mile canoe trip in the Canadian Crown Lands, and scuba diving in the Florida Keys. Aidan's family and friends will always remember the vast array of music he loved, while ensuring Tame Impala represented at least 25% of every playlist, his laughter- often at his own expense, and his 'million-dollar' smile. Aidan was quick to say thank you and he meant it. Aidan is survived by, His mother Kelly Kaheny Collier and sister Taylor of Dallas, maternal grandparents Kathleen and Richard Kaheny of Austin, and paternal grandparents, David Collier of Ft. Worth, and Rebecca Johnson of New Braunfels, Texas. His maternal Aunts Kris Kaheny, Carla Ruiz, Dr. Erin Olsen and Erin's husband, Christoffer and their son Mikael. Many extended family and friends he touched in a special and positive way will sorely miss Aidan. A memorial mass will be held 10:00 am Monday, January 15 at St. Austin's Catholic Parish, 2026 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Health Medical Center Foundation of Dallas.

Aidan has been a friend of mine since Kindergarten. He lived a couple of houses down from me, and we would hang out. I remember that he was a really fun and kind kid. Aidan was a buddy of mine at Kealing. I didn't really know anyone when I got there and in most of my classes I had a hard time getting to know people, but he and I were in a bunch together. He was one of the few people I was friends with in seventh grade. He was a good listener, and when he would speak whatever he'd say was always concise, informed, and witty. Our first conversation was about music. His tastes were better than mine.
We grew apart at LASA but the impression he left on me stayed. He helped me grow socially in a strange time in my life, and I wish I could thank him for that. I was lucky to have known him.
