AIDAN O'NEIL Obituary

O'NEIL--Aidan Coakley, died on July 12, 2023. He was a gifted cross-country athlete and a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend. Aidan was born on February 27, 2006 in New York City and attended Riverdale Country School through 8th grade. For High School, Aidan became a treasured member of Iowa City Regina Catholic High School's community where he was a standout student and decorated cross country and track runner, and member of the basketball team. Aidan was loved deeply by his family and friends, and adored by his devoted yellow lab, Tanzen. Aidan is survived by his mother Jennifer (Schiele) O'Neil, his father Liam O'Neil, as well as his brothers Conor and Kieran, his sister Maeve, his grandmother Catherine Schiele, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Aidan touched those around him, and we will miss his bright smile and enormous heart. His spirit and gentle light will shine on. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday 6pm-9pm at Frank E. Campbell, 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10028. A mass celebrating Aidan's life will be held on Thursday, 10:00 at St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue, New York, NY. In lieu of flowers, Aidan's family is asking for donations to be sent to The Big O Foundation https://thebigofoundation.org/ in support of mental health awareness.
