Akua Gite Obituary

AKUA ZOLA GITE
1973-2015
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then Akua was Miss America! Bold, black and beautiful. Akua was a native of Houston, TX. She was born to Cleveland and Ruth Ann Gite on March 15, 1973. She was the oldest and only girl of 3 children born to this union. She departed this life on August 19, 2015.
Akua graduated from Bellaire High School. She was looking forward to a career in health care as a diabetic educator. Through it all she loved the Lord and she loved people. Her soul was so lovable and she always wanted a hug.
Akua was a child of God and attended churches around the Houston area. You name a church in Houston and Akua knew where it was and the pastor. She was looking for a church home when she passed away.
Akua was the mother of little Lauryn and enjoyed every moment spent with her. She was a talented writer and filled journals and books with her thoughts and views of the world. She was a deep thinker. She took time to contemplate life and its meaning. Her works are stories that tug at your heart. Her other passion was reading her Bible.
Akua is survived by her husband: Willie Williams, daughter: Lauryn Wallace, father: Cleveland J. Gite III, brothers: Dikombi (Cynthia) and Cleveland J. Gite IV, paternal grandmother: Izola M. Gite, paternal step-grandmother: Joyce Gite, uncles: Phillip Bruce, Elliot Gite, and Lloyd Gite, aunts: Shirley McGruder, Priscilla Gite, Carla and Sheila Gite, sister-in-laws: Wilma Thomas and Natalie Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Akua was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Gite, maternal grandparents Clinso and Margie Bruce and paternal grandfather Cleveland J. Gite II.
The viewing will be from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by the funeral services to begin at 11:00 am, all of which will be conducted at Paradise North Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery Road, Houston, TX 77088. Rite of Committal will be at Houston Memorial Gardens, 2426 Cullen Street, Pearland, TX 77581.

She was my friend in San Antonio. Just to be around her was a gift. She loved the Lord. She was funny, smart, deep, spiritual, beautiful and real as they come. She was 360 degrees of a person and all seasons in one day in a way that only she could be and I loved her for it. Akua I miss u!!!
