I was so sad to see Alan's obituary listed below my dad (Robert Dembner)'s in this weekend's New York Times. My dad spoke so fondly of their time together at Penn and of their lunch and golf meetings since. Condolences to your family.

Alan and I were bunkmates and best friends at Ken-Mont Camp in the fifties for many years. Though I haven't seen or talked to him since then, I remember Alan fondly. Ken-Mont had a short nine hole golf course. That's where Alan took up golf. He got better year by year until at 13 or14 he beat me in the camp championship. (My father, an excellent golfer, had taught the game to my younger brother and me.) From time to time over the years I noted Alan's success in regional tournaments. Leni: I...
