Alan Lee Frank
April 24, 1953- September 16, 2024
Alan was born in Pullman, WA to Lee Frank and Marlene Hoffman Frank. Unfortunately, Lee was in Oregon playing baseball for the Washington State team and unable to make the birth of Alan, as Alan was born three weeks early.
Alan was an easy, low-key son who loved people and animals. Alans childhood home was blessed with strays and abandoned animals. He had a love for swimming, cross country running, and skiing. Alan was a part of the Mount Baker Ski patrol for many years. Alan and his brother, Jerry, were Acolytes in the Episcopal Church.
After high school, Alan attended Washington State University, (Go Cougs!), before joining the Army with his brother Jerry. Alan was in the Armor Division and in a tank crew and Jerry was in Artillery. The brothers spent most of their time in Colorado Springs until Alan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and medically discharged with honors from the military.
Alan was a great brother. He and Jerry spent time together hunting, fishing and camping. Alan worked making fishing poles and as a computer technician for Boeing. Alan was known for having one or two dogs as companions. Alan was known for being good to other people. He would enjoy camping with his sons during the summer at Skagit River.
Alan was a loving father and grandfather. He always made time to attend or to be involved with his sons’ sports, music or even church events. His sons joined Salem Lutheran Church, Alan and his mother became members as well and attended church regularly until his health made it impossible for him to attend.
Alan will be remembered as being social, always having a smile, and would leave a positive impression on everyone who met him. Alan had a positive outlook on life and lived the best he could. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing even after leaving the Mount Baker ski patrol. Alan also enjoyed cheering on the Seattle Mariner, Seattle Seahawks, and the Seattle Kraken. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, the harmonica and listened to audiobooks during downtime.
Alan is survived by his mother Marlene, brother Jerry, sons Jason and Bryan, and grandson Jayden. Alan is proceeded in death by his father Lee. A service for Alan will be held Saturday November 2, 2024, at 11 am at Hawthorne Memorial Park. A reception will be held right after.
