Alan W. Gemme, 56, of Millbury, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 26th 2014. Al above all was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Alan was born in Worcester, one of three children of Wilfred J. ?Pete? and Rita M. (Ginese) Gemme. Al attended Worcester Boys Trade School, joined the U.S. Navy and served the citizens of Worcester for 30 years as a police officer.

Al is survived by his wife Deborah A. (Herriage) Gemme; daughter Naomi Gemme and her daughter Alana Rose Lippe of Florida; son HM3 Corey LaPierre and his wife Haley, U.S. Navy stationed at Sub Base, New London, CT; sister Mary S. Gemme of Dennis; brother, Gary J. Gemme and his wife Donna of Worcester; his in laws, Robert and Constance Herriage of Millbury; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Al's parents, Pete and Rita, and his grandson Alan Anthony Gemme pre deceased him.

Al loved antique cars; he found great joy in restoring and show casing them as a member of the Old Car Club. Al enjoyed Ballroom dancing with his wife Debbie. As a Worcester Police officer , Al gave his all and then some. Over his career Al was a member of the SWAT team, truck inspection team, patrol division, summer patrol boat unit on Lake Quinsigamond, police academy and traffic division. Al gave his automotive skills and his mechanical genius to the police department keeping a fleet of over two hundred vehicles in operation while working his full time assignment as a member of the Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Team.

Funeral services, visitation and burial are private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alana Rose Lippe fund, care of W-G Federal Credit union, 530 Grafton St Worcester 01604. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

I am sorry for your lose. Alan and I grew up together on Orient Street, I remember the great fun we had pretending the ledge formation across the street was a PT Boat. He had a great imagination and there was never a dull moment. he will truly be missed.
