I spent over 2 years writing a PAD paper with him, so important that it has been cited >3000 times. He led it, cajoled, brought along, created consensus, and shone an overall light, brilliance, and warmth that reflected in all. I'll always remember a private dinner we had in New Orleans. What a loss to so many. My honor to have known him.

I just wanted to send a note to the family of Alan Hirsch. We met Alan last Sept when my dad was brought to hospital. He remained our doctor until we heard the very sad news. In fact we just met with the day before he left for Florida. Of all of the doctors we worked with, Alan was by far the best doctor we have ever had. Dr. Hirsch was a wonderful Doctor. He diagnosed my Heart Disease and spoke at an FMD meeting for people with FMD. He was kind and very smart. I will miss Dr. Hirsch; may all my prayers go to his family.

I knew Alan only virtually, through a project we worked together on over the past 2 years. He imparted warmth and kindness even through simple phone calls. He was truly a mensch. I am terribly sorry for your loss.
