Not sure what to say?

Trina and I loved our moments with Alan in Amarillo and were grateful to see his family on their journey to California. Our daughter, Penny, was born in 1985 just like Victoria. Gone too soon.

Alan was a good friend from the moment I met him in January 1980. He would tell me stories of his exploits both in graduate school and through our work. (I pushed him to finish his Masters work before his professor retired.) His boat trip from Oklahoma through the lower Mississippi with Hugh Winder and little Hugh had to be emblazoned in his memory(due to the mosquitoes and Hugh's love of Spam).
It was great to see most of you on the big 1985 move from Amarillo to Sacramento (with a...

I too had only worked with Alan a short time, but I will miss his humor, warmth, energy, and gracious nature very much. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family.

I recently had the pleasure and good fortune to meet and work with Alan. His knowledge, dedication, enthusiasm, and wit was an inspiration. I will miss him greatly having only known him for a short few months. I can only imagine what a loss it is for his close friends and his family. I extend you my most heartfelt sorrow.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Alan during some strategy meetings with Jones & Stokes last summer. He took us on a tour of Napa and we had a wonderful time. What a great guy! My sincerest condolences to the family and those who had the privilege of working with him.

To the Solbert Family,
I have only met with Alan in person one time, in October 2006. Upon meeting him and speaking with him on the telephone a few times, I was struck by the depth of his humility and intellect. Please accept my sincere sympathies.

To all the Solberts,

What a terrible loss! Alan was so full of energy, laughs and love -- it does not seem possible that he is gone. Know that all of Cold Spring Harbor, the East Woods School Community, and especially all the Lindsays are with you in spirit and send you all our sympathy.

All of Alan's Groton classmates are saddened to hear the news and in a flurry of emails have been exchanging memories and observations. Our sympathies to the family

The first time I met Alan was one month ago at an environmental meeting and I was immediately stuck by his kindness and motivating personality. I was new to his business and he quickly assumed a position as being a mentor and leader to me. I was fortunate to enjoy a few social occasions with Alan where we connected on our philosophy of business and life. Although brief, I will always hold his insights as a guiding light.
