Alan was a wonderful soul and had a way of making everyone feel important. I was blessed to work with him at 2 different venues. His catchy sense of humor and humble personal sharing were keys in de-escalating stressful situations at crucial times. He was an icon as both co-worker and friend to me.

Alan was a true inspiration to all of us working at Martin Unit Treatment Center at Martin Correctional Institute. He was a confidante and friend, someone I have followed through the years as much as possible, and I will miss him. He will probably be at the gate greeting new souls in heaven with that smile!

I have many happy childhood and young adult memories of trips from Michigan to Arkansas to spend time with Alan, my other cousins, aunts, uncles, and Grandma Dowless. Alan was a special person who was proud of all of his children.
