Albert C. Gates

What a joy to count Bert as a classmate and friend. Last year in October, 2009, Bert graciously invited Jess Long and myself to his home for an afternoon of sharing special memories of San Antonio and Nordhoff school years. Bert's terrific sense of humor remained in full force, and he made it the highlight of my trip to Ojai.He wil be greatly missed. My prayers and my sympathy go out to his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Bert's passing. He was a dear friend and neighbor to my family. He showed such kindness to both my parents in their final days. When my mother was stricken with brain cancer, Bert came over with a beautiful spray of blossoms (he and my mother shared a love for flowers and classical music). Although my mother had lost her ability to walk or talk, Bert sat next to her and talked as if nothing was wrong. I could tell by her Irish eyes she truly appreciated his kindness....

I'm so sorry to hear about Albert's passing. I sat next to him in high school at Nordhoff and have a lot of fond memories. We had a great time whispering and laughing. I remember he had a GREAT laugh, very infectious. I'm so sorry for your loss. Jeananette Poulis Parker
