My first experience of writing to my state senator was sending a letter to Senator Rodda about an issue that I wanted him to vote on, and I received the most thoughtful and courteous response, thanking me for my interest in the legislation, explaining that he might not vote for it as I had asked, but that he would consider my input as he made his decision. I fondly remember Prof. Rodda, who was my history professor at Sacramento City College in 1948. He was easily the best teacher that I encountered in my undergraduate days. He was also the kindest and sympathetic of all my teachers. Later on, I enjoyed observing his superb work as Senator from Sacramento. My deepest sympathy is extended to the Rodda Family and I pray for your strength during this time of your loss. It is with fondness and a smile that I remember attending political functions hosted by Sen. Rodda at his home. He always made everyone feel welcome with his down-to-earth nature and pleasant personality. Now he can share his wisdom on a higher level. Our State has lost an icon, but Heaven gained a special angel.
