Not sure what to say?

I stumbled across Alex's Obituary after having some time to look at old friends from my Coast Guard days. I served with Alex at CG Station Marathon in the Florida Keys in late 1980's. Alex was a good Sailor, and it was clear to all who worked with him how much he enjoyed his job. I remember standing radio watch with him in the early morning hours when all but he and I slept. Guitar sounds sift in to remember...
a taste?
a smell?
Nostalgic memories just out of reach
vaguely comforting
hint of hope
speak of simpler times
when my world was new
and everything was possible."

Alexander Elyjiw
I am from the strength of my sister’s braids, from HOGs and the Coast Guard, the ski patrol and the great photo giant.
I am from a home where my mother always smiled, from the Ukraine, to Canada, to swimming with the dolphins and whistling wildly down the mountains.
From the sandy beaches, racing against the tide with my brothers, racing against time with my God, racing to make the most of every second on this earth.
I am from camping and the love of the great...
