Al was always incredibly generous with St. Martin's church providing an annual audit at minimal cost. Most people had no idea what a great gift he was giving. Al was always thorough, fair, and provided advice which pointed out areas that needed attention. When his advice was overlooked, he persisted in gently pointing out again the next year that those changes in practice still needed to be made.

In the nine years that I was his pastor, I admired Al's faithfulness greatly. He was one of those quiet saints whom you knew was rock solid. Never drawing attention to himself or needing to feel he was the boss, Al served his Lord in a way that was very evident that Al knew Whose he was...a beloved child of God marked with Christ's cross and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Rest eternal grant Al, O Lord, and let Light perpetual shine upon him. Amen.

I am so sorry to hear this. He was such a wonderful man. He gave me a job when I was at UT majoring in accounting. He was very patient and helped me succeed as a CPA. Please know that your family is in our prayers.

To Trey and Pam: My thoughts and prayers are with you today as you celebrate the life of your dad. He was always so very kind to me and seemed to have a smile for everyone. When church service would end on any given Sunday, I loved going to find your parents just to say "hi." I can still hear both of their voices inside my head. Love to you both and your families. May the memories be a comfort to you.

Uncle Al was a real treasure as was Aunt Bettie Jane. They became second parents to Martha and me after Mama and Daddy died.WE loved and looked forward to our trips to Austin. We had our favorite places, Tres Amigos, County Line , Uncle Al indulged us with trips to Breeds and always finished off with an Amy's ice cream. We will miss you terribly Uncle Al , but will always treasure our times with you!

Uncle Al & Aunt Bettie Jane were always and will always remain to me the young uncle and aunt. They were fun, and we had so many good times together. Uncle Al was indeed the best CPA in the World! We will always treasure our Austin visits, but will miss him terribly. Here's to remembering our lunches, trips to Amy's, and Breeds. I always enjoyed talking to Uncle Al about various things, and loved to hear him talk about growing up in the Texas Hill Country during World War II, and his days at The University of Texas. Love and deepest condolences to Pam and Trey, and their families.

Love,

Martha
