Alice Applin Obituary


News Death Notice

APPLIN, Alice Lee 85, went into eternal rest Sept. 13, 2010 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 4, 1925 in South Charleston, Ohio to LeRoy and Eliza Whitelow. Sister Applin accepted Christ at an early age and loved to worship and serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sister Applin was a devoted and loving, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former member of Greater First Missionary Baptist Church were she served as the First Lady being the companion and help mate for the late Pastor Kenneth B. Applin, Sr. Sister Applin then became a devoted member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church were she served as a Deaconess; she also was affiliated with the Clark County Missionary Board; Minister Wives, Circle of Friends, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Ms. Applin retired from the Springfield School Board after many years of service. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted children, Pastor Kenneth (Sheila) Applin, Jr.; Wanda Rochelle (Henry) Oliver, James (Alverda) Applin, Sr.; Marylyn I. Tyler and Juan H. (Sharon) Applin, Sr.; brother, William (Mabel) Whitelow, Sr.; two sisters, Mary Jane Whitelow and Wanda (Finis) Martin; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-law, Bernice Applin and Beautine Applin; brother-in-law, Lester Applin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, St. John Missionary Baptist Church family and many friends. Sister Applin is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Kenneth B. Applin, Sr.; parents, LeRoy and Eliza Whitelow; brother, Merritt E. Whitelow, Sr. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Service at 12:00 noon at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 34 W. Pleasant Street; Service entrance will be on Mulberry side of church. Pastor Ernest C. Brown, Sr., Officiating. Interment will follow service in Rose Hill Burial Park. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home, Cincinnati, Ohio.
