COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- Alice May Driscoll (Hill) beloved mother of Robert, Valerie, Karen and Cindy and the wife of the late Robert Edwin Driscoll, passed away after a short acute illness, at Alegent Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Saturday, May 21, 2011.
She is survived by son Robert (Suzy) of Kansas City, Kan., daughters Valerie (John) Ware of Glenwood, Iowa, Karen (Duane) Palmer of Wisner, Neb., Cindy (Greg) Kroll of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren, Emily (Steve) Kumm, Drew Palmer, Sarah Driscoll, Matt Ware, Marissa Ware, Rory Driscoll; one great- grandchild, Kaden James Kumm; brother Douglas Hill of Cape Elizabeth; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Alice was born in Portland on April 26, 1934. After growing up in Cape Elizabeth and graduating from Cape Elizabeth High School, Alice set off on life's adventure with her dearest friend since 2nd grade, Marlene Sargent (Cook) to work at the Pentagon. Alice moved with Marlene and her new husband, Jim, to Columbus, Ohio to Lockborn, AFB. It was there in Columbus Alice met and fell in love with her husband Robert E. Driscoll. They were married in Cape Elizabeth on Nov. 26, 1954, for a total of 54 years, separated only by Bob's untimely death in November of 2009.
Throughout life, Alice was an avid Girl Scout leader, student, painter, seamstress, Tupperware representative, business women and Hummel collector. Through all of Alice's activities, she raised her four children with her husband Bob, as they were stationed throughout the U.S. and overseas. She was a fiercely independent, smart, crafty, witty and loving woman.
Special appreciation from the Driscoll family to Cynthia Quass of Home Nursing of Heart ,Primrose Retirement Community for the dedication and loving care taken of our mother in her final year of life.
While we are saddened that she is not here with us on Earth, we take comfort in knowing she left our hands to be received in our loving father Robert's arms and embraced by Jesus Christ.
