What is a man born for but to be a reformer, a remaker of what has been made, a denouncer of lies, a restorer of truth and good. This is what Alice was ... Rest in peace. You have earned your place in heaven. Castro Spears

You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your loved one. Dr. Geoffray served as my supervisor in New Orleans Public Schools. She had a way of recognizing one's talent long before an individual knew that they had some sort of expertise. May her love for humanity live in each of you for generations to come.

To the family of Dr. Alice R. Geoffray:

I am very grateful for having known Mrs. Geoffray. She and her Job Placement Center Counselors hired me to work with them 30 years ago. I was intrigued by her work ethic, family ties, spirituality, and geniune personality. She was entertaining and generous...giving her time and listening ear and big heart to the least of us. I was fortunate to have seen through a window to her soul...Mrs. Geoffray had a family collage that hung on her office wall. She told me the most interesting stories of each of her cherished children pictured (and the few grandchildren pictured at that time). These stories came to mind when I heard of her passing and I can vividly remember everyone's name and their story to this day. She was extremely proud of her 8 kids. Once, I visited Mrs. Geoffray when she moved to Parc Esplanade. During my visit, she had beautifully framed pictures of her family on the window sill with the view of NOMA and the bayou in the background! Of course, she gave me an updated version of what the kids were doing now and I loved every minute of our time together. I am blessed to have had the pleasure of knowing and learning from Mrs. Geoffray and I will forever cherish all the loving memories I have of her and appreciate the difference she made in my life and career. May God bless you abundantly with wonderful memories of a great and one of a kind mother.

Sincerely,
Mary Ann Mercier

To the children of Mrs. Geoffray:

What a wonderful"gem" the world has lost. I am a former student of the Adult Education Center. Mrs. Geoffray was an inspiration to me and so many young women. I learned life lessons from your mother that I will never forget. I spoke to your mother a few years ago when she was living in Dallas. We talked and laughed over an hour. I have such fond memories of your mother. My heart sank when I received the news today of her passing. There's so much I could say but time will not permit. Please send me an address so I can mail a card to you. Take care of yourselves. I will be praying for you and the rest of your family. Please contact me at: [email protected]. Always remember, your mother was a blessing to everyone she came in contact with. She will live forever in our hearts.

To Jeff and Family

My sincere sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your mother. From everything I have read, she was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to all. I don't know if you recall this, but you were my best friend in kindergarten many years ago at Hart Private School in NOLA. It has been many years since then, but I still recall those days. May God comfort you and your family in your time of sorrow.

To Andrea, Steve, Charlotte, Dolly, Paul, Jeanne & Jeff : I can't believe that I will not be with you to say goodbye and to celebrate the life of your Mother. Mark & I are in Boston with commitments that we have not been able to change, although we've tried. I hope you all know how much your Mother meant to me ...I do believe she knew. She was the most incredible person I have ever known. She had a profound impact on my life as an inspiration, role model, and mentor. Because of her, I and many, many other people, especially women, have accomplished successes in our lives and become better people that without her love and encouragement, we would never have achieved. She loved us all unconditionally and welcomed us with open arms in good times and in bad. Her profound impact on our lives made us better women in all aspects of our lives. She gave more love to more people in one lifetime than seems humanly possible. I'm so thankful that Felice and I had the opportunity to visit her last month. Little did we know it would be the final time. Thank you for sharing your wonderful Mother with me and with my family -- I loved her dearly and will miss her so much. Although I can't be with you in person, Mark and I are there is spirit. I hope to see you all soon.

In my senior year of high school at Francis T. Nicholls (1957), I participated in the Business Education Program. The school was honored to have had Mrs. Geoffray in charge of that program, and I was blessed with her teaching and guidance.

Through the years I have often thought of Mrs. Geoffray and how she affected my life. She was a most caring and very special lady.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Geoffray family.

Dr. Geoffray was a truly wonderful woman. I met her at a time when I was a young single mother trying to figure it all out. She placed me in her program at the Adult Education Center and as a graduate, I can truly say it was Dr. Geoffray who literally "taught me how to fish." She was such an amazing woman.

May God bless you.

Dr. Geoffray was a very understanding and wonderful person. I was a graduate of the Adult Education Center and I am very thankful for the guidance that influenced my career in the field of education. Through another former graduate, I was able to speak to Dr. Geoffray on the phone and thank her. I am sure that there are others like me who appreciate that someone cared about those who society had written off. May God continue to bless you.

May God bless all the family. Dr. Geoffray was an extraordinary lady who communicated optimism to all who worked with her. She and I travelled similar educational paths at both Tulane and UNO. She was the "senior" member of our group and an inspiration to us all. I am sure she was greeted in that house not made with human hands with "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." May God's presence support you as she supported so many.
